Workflow Assessment
Workflow analysis or assessment is the place to start for any technology implementation. Regardless of industry, we’ll first begin by asking what strategically what you want to accomplish. Once established, our team will begin by observing the overall current workflow. We’ll be monitoring how the operation functions both with people and equipment. We’ll flag any areas of concern. Throughout this process all the way through completion, we’ll be working in collaboration with your entire team to ensure all concerns and issues are identified, addressed, and met.
Distribution Center / Facilities
We’ll work together with your team to pinpoint the following:
- Area workflow pain points, understanding processes as it currently exists
- Amount of workers in the facility and what operations are they performing
- Technical staff involvement
Stepping through another person’s job can lead to identifying areas that weren’t thought of as potential problems. Having the team watch and ‘see’ for themselves our movements replayed back brings greater insights into their processes.
It’s time to get granular with your company’s metrics and understand how it is formulated, elements that go into the metrics, and how it is measured. Our goal is to identify where you are at today and where you want to be tomorrow. Speaking with the distribution center management or plant manager along with the workers and employees helps to establish the end goal for everyone involved.
Once we’ve completed the analysis, obtaining feedback from everyone involved in the process is what makes our work alive and working. The results belong to you and your team needs to take ownership once we leave your facility.
Ergonomic – Human Performance
Your company has put a lot of time and effort into deciding the best processes and procedures in order to get the work done or the orders fulfilled. Putting the human factor into the equation, taking into consideration elements such as height and endurance of each employee, and now the amount of time to complete a process has changed.
Efficiency, speed, and control are all critical elements to a worker’s performance. If any are compromised, that’s when errors and fatigue set in. The best way to maximize an individual’s performance is with ergonomics – what is the best and most efficient way for an employee to move within your existing or new processes in order to preserve energy, wear and tear on the human body and provide a variety of movements in order to minimize repetition.
Ellis Systems takes these factors into consideration to develop a human performance plan that is healthy and efficient for each employee today and in the future. Our team can work on human performance as a standalone project within your current processes or combine it with our workflow assessment services. However, with any project engagement with Ellis, we’ll always include human performance as we understand how vital it is to ensure the comfort, efficiency, and end result of each employee and worker.
